Andrew Curtis White was born in Kirkland, NY and died in Ithaca. He graduated from Hamilton College in 1881 and received a Ph.D. from Cornell in Classical Philology in 1885. He taught at the Cayuga Lake Academy in Aurora, N.Y., 1881-1882; served as an instructor in Latin and Greek from 1885-1889; and as Assistant Librarian in charge of accessions and classification from 1889 until his retirement in 1923.
